I'm depressed about Brandon Phillips...

I read that our hitting coach, Hall of Famer Eddie Murray, can't get through to Brandon.
Eddie Murray has encouraged Brandon Phillips to take extra batting practice, but Brandon won't do it.

Meanwhile Johnny Mac sits on the pines as a utility guy.

Brandon is hitting .202, has his whole career ahead of him, and Johnny Mac, who is in his prime right now, must sit behind this chump, and bat .270 while sitting.

I wonder if this is a karma test, and Cleveland management is failing. Johnny Mac should be a constant reminder to Brandon how lucky he is to have just a bit more overall talent and ability, that it is not he who is sitting on the bench, or languishing in the minors behind a future hall of famer such as Roberto Alomar or Omar Vizquel.

What Brandon seems to be missing is a little thing called gratitude. Brandon Phillips appears to have none, but Brandon Phillips does appear to have plenty of attitude. [img]graemlins/thumbs_down.gif[/img]

Here Here, You are correct sir. While this team is improving daily I'm still not sold on Wedge over Skinner. Part of the job would seem to play the best at each position and Johnny Mac is the best hitting and fielding 2nd and 3rd baseman on the team. Yet he sits and gets 5-10 ab's a week. Play him everyday at the top of the lineup with Omar and I bet he eventualy has a .400 ob%. Mac seems to be paying for the Colon trade as the Indians will force us to believe that they did the right thing and Phillips will be shoved down our throats without paying his dues. He will hit eventually and be a cornerstone to this team but will this force Johnny Mac to look to greener pastures down the road? I'll go out on a limb and say right here and now that the steal of that trade will end up being the kid playing leftfield in Akron. GRADY/GRADY/GRADY

I doubt Mac would ever be a .400 OBP guy unless he gits about 50 Hit By pitches during the season!

It's not that I think overall Mac is Brandon's equal, it just seems that Brandon isn't grounded enough.

If Eddie Murray wants to see him take extra batting practice, why isn't he doing it?
